Cry of Fear Game Review

Cry of Fear is made by Team Psykskallar; a group of 15 people created Cry of Fear in the half-life 1 engine (hammer editor.) You can find the steam store page for this game right here.

Cry of Fear…where do I even begin? This game is so incredibly scary, I get chills walking around every corner. It doesn’t help that the graphics are bad; it makes all the scares that much better because you don’t know what is trying to kill you. This game is a trip, out of the games I played so far; this one is by far the best because of the atmosphere the developers created. I’m not going to lie when I played this game I was a total dumbass; I was getting stuck in places that should have been 5 seconds but I didn’t know the basic Half-Life controls so I looked stupid for like 4 minutes. The first jumpscare of this game; holy shit I wanted to die; you can watch it here. Afterward, I was very paranoid because I didn’t want to get scared as bad as I did. I screamed so much in this playthrough because I never knew what was coming and I didn’t know how to react to certain enemies when they first appeared; I like stopped and looked at whatever the thing was for like 1 second before I actually reacted. Here is a link for my playthrough; not at all a complete run, I only played through a part of this game, but from what I played I hate how good it is. This game is perfect if you want to scare the shit out of yourself; if you buy this game you won’t regret it; this game incorporates everything that I would want in a horror game. I suck at combat so I was forced to improve drastically over the course of the playthrough, but from what I found out I am the worst at this game. This game has a drop mag feature; meaning when you reload whatever bullets you had are now gone; I wasted 3 clips that were almost full because of that. This game also likes to make you feel uneasy by having silent background noise; you can hear your own footsteps and the sounds that enemies make. Overall this game is actually the scariest game I’ve ever played; I never want to touch it again, but I highly recommend it to all of you reading this. Beautiful game with a story that I scratched the surface of and lot’s of great scares just waiting to happen. This game for me deserves an 11/10 because of how scary it really is; the chilling atmosphere, scary as hell enemies, and levels that make you not want to enter rooms because of either the appearance or sounds that are heard from within the room; I can see why this got many awards it did it’s job very well.
